A Summer NYC Elopement at City Hall | New York Elopement Photographer
Some love stories are written in the stars. Mia and Russell Johnson’s NYC City Hall elopement is written in the number eight. Eight years together. Married in the eighth month. Ticket number C028. Paperwork signed at desk number eight. As a result, this one gave me chills in the very best way.
From Bad Apples to the Big Apple
As a NYC City Hall elopement photographer, I have seen a lot of love stories. But Mia and Russell’s is something special. Their love story began on a first date at Bad Apples in New York City. So when it came time to choose where they would promise forever, there was never any question. They traveled all the way from Australia to get married in the city that first sparked their connection. And because the universe has a flair for the dramatic, the skies opened up to the brightest, most beautiful summer day. It felt like New York City itself was celebrating with them.
Getting Ready at The Dominick Hotel
The morning started at the stunning Dominick Hotel in Manhattan. Mia worked with the incredibly talented Ev Polish and looked absolutely breathtaking. She chose a gorgeous Dolce & Gabbana dress paired with Amina Muaddi shoes and a vintage Bvlgari purse. Russell kept it sharp and classic with Louis Vuitton loafers and sunnies. Then there was the brooch. Russell found it last minute at the Brooklyn flea markets after leaving the original behind. It turned out to be a perfect little tribute to his Scottish roots. In other words, some things are just meant to be.
Their NYC City Hall Elopement
There is something so pure about a City Hall elopement. No distractions, no noise, just two people choosing each other completely. Mia carried a single red rose as a quiet nod to Russell’s shoulder tattoo. Together they signed their paperwork, said their vows, and became husband and wife. Eight years of growing and choosing each other every single day led to this one perfect moment.
Running Around New York City
After City Hall we did what you do in New York. We ran around the city and soaked up every single second of it. The energy, the light, the magic of summer in Manhattan – it was all there. We ended the afternoon at Manhatta NYC for drinks with the most incredible views of the city skyline. In short, it was the perfect end to a perfect day. We toasted to a love story that started with a conversation and turned into a forever.
Mia and Russell, thank you for letting me be part of your day. From Australia to New York City, your love story is one I will never forget. If you are dreaming of your own NYC City Hall elopement, I would love to be your photographer.
