I’m obsessed with this one. Like genuinely, truly obsessed. As a Miami couples photographer, I always say the best sessions happen when couples just show up as themselves — and Alexis and Alex? They did exactly that, cocktails in hand, zero nerves, all vibes.
Their love language is bar hopping, so when they told me they wanted to shoot at Mae’s Room in Coconut Grove, I was immediately in. Dark wood, warm pendant lighting, moody corners everywhere you look. It’s the kind of place that already feels like a whole mood before you even pick up a camera.
We literally just hung out. That’s the best way I can describe it. They trusted me completely with posing and direction, which honestly makes all the difference, and we had a blast the entire time. I’d give them a prompt, they’d run with it, and the laughing and the touching and the realness just… happened. I was just there to catch it.

That shot of Alexis mid-laugh, holding her cocktail, Alex sitting next to her with the biggest grin? That one lives in my head rent free. She looked incredible in that off-shoulder House of CB gown and he could not stop smiling the whole time. I love when couples make my job feel easy.
Miami Couples Photographer: Why I Love Shooting in Spots Like Mae’s Room
Bars and restaurants with good lighting are genuinely some of my favorite places to shoot. You get this warm, moody ambient glow that no studio can replicate, and the environment gives couples something to actually do with themselves. Sit at the bar, order a drink, lean into each other. It feels natural because it is natural.
When a couple’s entire relationship revolves around finding the next great spot to grab a drink together, shooting in a place like Mae’s Room just makes sense. The space told their story before I even edited a single photo.
